A Wedding At The Sky Valley Chateau

Mountain Chic Wedding Weekend: Erin & Jeff’s Wedding in Steamboat Springs

By Sky Valley Chateau

Erin and Jeff’s story began with a right swipe. The couple first met on Bumble and had their first date at Odell Brewing Co. in Denver—a casual outing that quickly turned into something much more. A few years later, Jeff planned a surprise proposal on a snowy hike near Evergreen, Colorado. With snowshoes strapped on, their dog Jack trotting alongside, and panoramic views from a fire lookout tower, Jeff got down on one knee and asked Erin to spend forever with him.

When it came time to plan their wedding, the couple knew two things: they wanted sunshine and mountains. Steamboat Springs, a town where they had shared countless memories with friends and family, felt like the perfect destination. And once they discovered Sky Valley Chateau, everything clicked. “I loved the idea of hosting all our meals, hangouts, and even the ceremony in one place,” Erin said. “It just made sense.”

The Chateau became the hub of their wedding weekend—home to a mix of siblings and close friends who filled the house with energy, laughter, and late-night conversations. “It was so fun to look around and see people who had just met, or hadn’t seen each other in years, connecting over deep or silly conversations,” Erin shared.

Their overall vision? Mountain Chic—relaxed yet elevated, full of natural beauty, joy, and connection. In the days leading up to the wedding, Erin and Jeff were on cloud nine, soaking in every bit of Colorado sunshine with their guests: tubing down the Yampa River, biking mountain trails, hitting the hot springs, and even shucking oysters on the Chateau patio.

On the morning of the wedding, Erin went horseback riding with a group of friends. “When we got back, the nerves hit me,” she said. “It finally sank in that I was about to walk down the aisle.” One of the most emotional moments came just before the ceremony, when she stepped out to see her dad—who walked her down the aisle in a tie-dye bow tie, no less. “That moment will forever be one of my most treasured memories.”

After saying “I do,” the couple returned from taking portraits to an impromptu shower of dried flower petals. “We had forgotten to hand them out for the ceremony, and I was cracking up because the paper cones had been such a pain to make,” Erin laughed. “But one of my girlfriends came up with Plan B, and it was actually perfect—we got a surprise petal toss as we walked into the party.”

From custom details to spontaneous moments, the day reflected everything Erin and Jeff had hoped for: a celebration of love, laughter, and the joy of having all their people under one roof. “Getting ready in the Great Room with hair and makeup happening, people playing pool, picking out bolo ties, snacking and sipping wine—it felt like one big family gathering,” Erin said.

Their advice to future couples? “Plan what you can—and then just enjoy the fruits of your labor. Soak it all in and don’t sweat the small stuff.”

As for how they hope guests remember the day? Erin puts it best:
“I hope they all remember the love and happiness that permeated the weekend.”
