A Wedding At The Sky Valley Chateau

Welcome Soirée in the Rockies: Jessica & Michael’s Welcome Party at Sky Valley Chateau

By Sky Valley Chateau

Jessica and Michael first met in high school through a mutual friend, forming a friendship that would eventually evolve—years later—into something much more. After college, a spontaneous bottomless brunch rekindled their connection and led them back to each other, this time for good.

In December 2022, on a perfect powder day in Steamboat Springs, Mike proposed at the top of St. Patty’s Bowl, with panoramic views and a bluebird sky overhead. They celebrated that evening with their families at Salt & Lime. From that moment on, Steamboat Springs held an even more special place in their hearts, making it the obvious choice for their wedding weekend.

When it came to welcoming their loved ones to Steamboat for the big event, Jessica and Michael wanted more than a traditional welcome dinner—they dreamed of creating a joyful, laid-back evening filled with magical garden vibes, great food, and all their favorite people.

Sky Valley Chateau was the natural choice for both the welcome party and accommodations for the groomsmen. “It was the perfect place to host all the guys,” Jessica shared. Over 20 of Mike’s closest friends stayed on-site, making the Chateau feel like a true home base. The guys took full advantage of the pool table, spacious living areas, and the expansive kitchen, which came alive that evening for their custom farm-to-table welcome dinner. “It had the cozy, fairytale setting I envisioned, and the layout was ideal for a relaxed, al fresco dinner.”

As guests arrived, they were greeted with whimsical touches that made the night unmistakably Jessica and Michael: a DIY cocktail bar featuring an Aperol spritz station and “Mike’s Margarita Bar,” custom dog-themed cups and straws (a nod to their beloved pup), personalized lawn games, fun fact napkins, and candlelit tables under a canopy of bistro lights.

Jessica, her mom, and her bridesmaids handcrafted the tablescape and even arranged the florals themselves with grocery-store blooms. “It was a dream seeing it all come to life,” she said. “Everyone arriving for the weekend made it all feel real—it was so surreal and exciting.”

The night was filled with laughter, heartfelt toasts, and warm summer air as the sun dipped behind the mountains—exactly the atmosphere they had hoped to create. “Magical Colorado fairy garden meets family dinner,” Jessica described.

As for her advice to future couples? It’s simple: “Do it at Sky Valley Chateau!”
